大業（605年正月－618年三月）是隋朝政權第二代皇帝隋煬帝楊廣的年號，歷時13年餘。其名稱來自《易經·繫辭上》：「盛德大業至矣哉，富有之謂大業，日新之謂盛德。」《隋書》、《北史》等記載到大業十三年，《資治通鑑》只記載到十二年。清朝學者趙翼則認為李淵雖然擁立楊侑為帝，改元義寧，但是隋煬帝仍在，大業年號並沒有廢。事實上隋煬帝當時在江都，未必知道李淵已另立皇帝，故仍以皇帝自居並繼續使用大業年號，直至被宇文化及所殺。
南京圖書館研究部主任徐憶農指出，《隋史》是唐太宗在位時修撰的，的確刻意迴避「大業十四年」，但也並非絕對禁止，如《隋史·許善心》傳中寫道：「十四年化及弒逆之日，隋官盡詣朝堂謁賀，善心獨不至」。
南京大學歷史系教授張學鋒則指出有多種書寫「大業十四年」的墓誌，《盧文構夫人月相墓誌銘》中，有「大業十四年遇疾」；而洛陽出土的王德備墓誌上書寫「于時大業十四年正月十五日……卒」，該墓誌撰于貞觀十八年。張學鋒認為唐初朝廷對于「大業十四年」的使用比較寬容。
