| 9 | 野史云兵部尚書張縉彥至城下，為宦官攔阻，不得上。舛甚。十八日晚，內使馳捧密詔至新樂侯第，詔曰：「諭新樂侯劉文炳、駙馬都尉鞏永固，速擁家丁前來護衛。」先是，上有令二臣糾合勳戚家丁備非常之諭，至是，趨見上。上曰：「外城已陷，二卿所糾家丁能一巷戰，事尚未可知。」對曰：「臣等各帶數騎，誓死禦賊。」上曰：「如此何濟？」遂泣下。二臣泣奏曰：「萬有不虞，臣等以一死報陛下！」上曰：「朕志決矣，朕不能守社稷，朕能死社稷。」及上崩，二臣皆死之。 |
