永明王名由榔，桂王常瀛少子、神宗孫；初封衡陽。張獻忠陷衡州，桂王避於梧州。乙酉，〔桂〕王薨於梧。丙戌，唐王死，兩廣總督丁魁楚與廣西巡撫瞿式耜會議監國。閣學兵部尚書呂大器、原任兵部尚書李永茂俱至，以丙戌十月十四日稱監國。十一月，僭改元永曆，以肇慶府署為行宮。
