三年六月，太常禮院奏：「吳越國王錢鏐將行冊命，按禮文合用竹冊。敕：「宜令有司修製玉冊，俾稱元勲。」議者以玉冊帝王所用，不合假諸人臣，蓋當樞密院承旨段迴受錢鏐之賂，曲隨其請，樞密使郭崇韜不詳典禮故也。

後唐同光三年八月內詔：「冊吳越王錢鏐，其印宜以『吳越國王之印』為文，仍令所司以金鑄造。」示異禮也。

長興二年四月詔曰：「周崇呂望，有尚父之稱；漢重蕭何，有不名之禮。錢鏐冠公侯之位，疏吳越之封，宜示異恩，俾當縟禮。其錢鏐宜賜不名。」其年六月，以唐文正公魏徵八代孫韶為涇州安定縣主簿。

梁開平元年四月，封湖南節度使馬殷為楚王。五月，封河南尹張全義為魏王；兩浙節度使錢鏐為吳越王；皇兄全昱為廣王，依舊守太師致仕；皇從子友謙為冀王，友諒為衡王，友能為惠王，友誨為邵王。
