梁開平三年十月，敕太常卿李燕、御史司憲蕭頃、中書舍人張衮、尚書戶部侍郎崔沂、大理寺卿王鄯、尚書刑部郎中崔誥，共刪定律令格式。至四年十二月，中書門下奏：「新刪定令三十卷、式二十卷、格一十卷、律并目錄一十三卷、律疏三十卷，共一百三卷。請目為大梁新定格式律令，頒下施行。」從之。

後唐天成元年五月敕：「翰林學士、尚書戶部侍郎、知制誥馮道，翰林學士、中書舍人趙鳳，俱以本官充端明殿學士。」非舊制也。上初登位，每四方書奏，多令樞密使安重誨讀之，不暁文義。于是孔循獻議，因唐室侍讀之號，即創端明殿學士之名，命馮道等為之。
