14  | 五月戊子，太白晝見。乙巳，上至自天開殿。六月己酉朔，初御冠服。辛亥，吳十謀反，伏誅。己未，上從容謂侍臣曰：「朕每閱《貞觀政要》，見其君臣議論，大可規法。」翰林學士韓昉對曰：「皆由太宗溫顏訪問，房、杜輩竭忠盡誠。其書雖簡，足以為法。」上曰：「太宗固一代賢君，明皇何如？」昉曰：「唐自太宗以來，惟明皇、憲宗可數。明皇所謂有始而無終者。初以艱危得位，用姚崇、宋璟，惟正是行，故能成開元之治。末年怠於萬機，委政李林甫，奸諛是用，以致天寶之亂。茍能慎終如始，則貞觀之風不難追矣。」上稱善。又曰：「周成王何如主？」昉對曰：「古之賢君。」上曰：「成王雖賢，亦周公輔佐之力。後世疑周公殺其兄，以朕觀之，為社稷大計，亦不當非也。」 |
