4  | 程晉芳，字魚門，一字蕺園，江都人。家山陽。饒於貲。喜讀書，蓄書五萬卷，丹黃皆遍。性又好客，延攬四方名流。與袁大令枚、趙觀察翼、蔣編修士銓為詩歌，唱和無虛日，由此名日高而家日替矣。累試南北闈，不售。乾隆二十七年，高宗純皇帝南巡，召試，授中書，後十年始成進士，改主事，旋授吏部員外郎，與修四庫全書。欽命改翰林院編修。君生而頎長，美鬚髯，酒酣耳熱。縱論時事，則掀髯大笑，少所容貸。至於獎掖後進，則有譽無否也。不善治生家事，皆委之僕人坐此。貧不能供饘粥，以至責戶剝啄之聲不絕於耳。而君伏案著書若無事者，然後乞假游西安。卒於巡撫畢沅署中。君始為古文詞。及官京師，與笥河師戴君東原游，乃治經究，心訓詁。著有周易知旨、尚書今文釋義、左傳翼疏、禮記集釋、勉行齋文集十卷，蕺園詩集三十卷。 |
