15  | 二十二日，又召見大學士六部九卿。載漪請攻使館，太后許之。聯元頓首亟言曰：「不可，儻使臣不保，洋兵他曰入城，雞犬皆盡矣！」載瀾曰：「聯元貳於夷，殺聯元，夷兵自退。」太后大怒，召左右立斬之，莊親王載勛救之而止。聯元，載勛包衣也。協辦大學士王文韶言：「中國自甲午以後，財絀兵單，眾寡強弱之勢既已不侔，一旦開釁，何以善其後，願太后三思。」太后大怒而起，以手擊案罵之曰：「若所言，吾皆習聞之矣，尚待若言耶？若能前去，令夷兵毋入城，否者且斬若！」文韶不敢辯。上持許景澄手而泣曰：「朕一人死不足惜，如天下生靈何！」太后陽慰解之，不懌而罷，自是嗛景澄。 |
