二年冬十月，泗川監平將兵圍沛公於豐，泗川郡卽泗水郡。秦，郡置守、尉、監。文穎曰：秦時御史監郡，若今刺史。平，人名。沛公出與戰，破之；令雍齒守豐。雍，於用翻，姓也。《風俗通》：雍姓，周文王子雍伯之後。十一月，沛公引兵之薛。泗川守壯兵敗於薛，走至戚；沛公左司馬得殺之。壯者，泗川守之名。班《志》，戚縣屬東海郡。《括地志》：沂州臨沂縣有戚縣故城。戚，如字，如淳將毒翻。余以地理考之，沛郡之與東海相去頗遠，壯兵敗而走，未必能至東海之戚。班《志》，沛郡有廣戚縣。章懷太子賢曰：廣戚故城在今徐州沛縣東，恐是走至廣戚之戚也。師古曰：得者，司馬之名。貢父曰：得殺之者，得而殺之；《漢書》多以獲為得。司馬掌兵，周之夏卿。春秋之時，晉置三軍及新軍，各有卿、佐，復置司馬以掌軍中刑戮之事；後復分為左、右；又其後也，軍行有軍司馬、假司馬；下至部曲，有候，有司馬。

楚王景駒在留，班《志》，留縣屬楚國。《括地志》：留城在徐州沛縣東南五十里，卽張良封處。沛公往從之。張良亦聚少年百餘人欲往從景駒，道遇沛公，遂屬焉；沛公拜良為廐將。廐將蓋掌馬。良數以《太公兵法》說沛公；沛公善之，常用其策；良為他人言，皆不省。說，輸芮翻。為，于僞翻；下平為同。省，悉井翻，察也；後以義推。良曰：「沛公殆天授！」故遂留不去。張良從沛公始此。
