秋七月，著作郎呂祖謙字伯恭，婺州人。卒。祖謙先為著作郎，以末疾乞辭歸，帝命修皇朝文鑑，既成，除直秘閤，是年仍遷著作郎、兼國史院編修，卒。祖謙為夷簡五世孫，自其祖好問始居婺州，其學本家庭，有中原文獻之傳，長從林之竒、汪應辰、胡憲游而友張栻、朱熹，學以闗洛為宗，旁稽載籍，心平氣和，不立崖異。少卞急，一日，誦孔子「躬自厚而薄責于人」之言，忽覺平時忿●，渙然氷釋。朱熹嘗言：學如伯恭，方是能變化氣質，其所講，盡將以開物成務。既臥病，而任重道逺之，志不衰，居家之政，皆可以為後世法。著讀書記、大事記，皆未成書。考定古周易、書說、閫範、官箴、辯志録行于世，學者稱為東萊先生。
