敏求字次道，賜進士及第，為館閣校勘。預蘇舜欽進奏院會，出簽書集慶軍判官。王堯臣修《唐書》，以敏求習唐事，奏為編修官。持祖母喪，詔令居家修書。卒喪，同知太常禮院。

用賈昌朝薦，改編修《唐書》。仁宗獵近郊，疇引十事以諫。皇祐中，手詔禁貴戚近習私謁者，疇獻《聖政惟公頌》。召試，直秘閣，為開封府推官。宦者李允良訴其叔父死，疑為仇家所毒，請發棺驗視，眾欲許之，疇獨不可。曰：「茍無實，是無故而暴尸，且安知非允良有奸？」窮治，果與其叔父家有怨。歷三司度支判官、修起居注、知制誥、權判吏部流內銓，以右諫議大夫權御史中丞。
