裴政，字德表，河東聞喜（今山西省聞喜縣）人。高祖裴壽孫隨劉裕遷居壽陽（今安徽壽縣）。梁豫州刺史裴邃之孫，裴之禮之子。早年為邵陵王府法曹參軍，轉起部郎、枝江令。湘東王召為宣惠府記室，真除通直散騎侍郎。侯景之亂之時，隨建寧侯王琳出兵討伐，擒宋子仙，複荊州，加壯武將軍，封夷陵侯。又大破蕭紀于峽口。升為平越中郎將、鎮南府長史。一日為西魏部隊虜獲，蕭詧勸裴政歸順，裴政表面順從，卻對城中喊道：「援兵大至，各恩自勉。吾以間使被擒，當以碎身報國。」，蕭詧下令將他就地處死，蔡大業諫阻道：「此民望也。若殺之，則荊州不可下矣。」。江陵陷落後，被送往西魏首都，授員外散騎常侍，「用法寬平，無有冤濫」。入隋，轉遷率更令，加上儀同三司，並與蘇威等修訂《開皇律》。
